Mark McGregor, S.J.

Mark wrote, directed and produced Posada. Its development began in 2005, followed by three weeks of filming in December 2005 and 2006. Posada was released in the spring of 2007.

Born in 1962 near Washington, D.C., Mark is the second of four children. In 1976 McGregor, then 14 years old, he and his family drove from Panama to the U.S in the family’s Volkswagon van.  He graduated from Seattle University in 1984 with a B.A. in Economics. He then entered the Jesuits (Society of Jesus), and after high school teaching and studies, he was ordained a priest in 1996.   

In 2002 he graduated from Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television in Los Angeles, CA with a Masters of Fine Arts. During this period he also served as a juvenile hall chaplain and detention chaplain at a federal facility. Through this experience he met Javier Stauring, Posada’s narrator, Amalia Molina and many who are featured in Posada.

After four years of teaching film at Fairfield University, Santa Clara University of Santa Clara, CA named McGregor a Bannan Fellow and Visiting Professor in the Communication Department for 2007-08.
