Formation
The training, education and preparation of the clergy – called “formation” - is a rigorous process that often takes years. Jesuit formation, a 14-year endeavor, is the longest of all the religious orders.
Jesuit formation is the same across the world, whether you are a novice in Detroit, Dublin, Delhi or Dar es Salaam.
Guiding us through the process, Fr. Provincial Orabator of East Africa discusses the great number of men in formation and the great need to support their training, while novices from East Africa share their stories of their desire to become Jesuits.
Serving those whose calling is to serve – that’s what this video is about.
St. Aloysius Gonzaga
St. Aloysius Gonzaga High School for AIDS orphans is the first of its kind in the world.
Born out of a corrugated tin shack in the middle of the Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya in 2004, St. Al’s grew with the support of the local and worldwide community.
On June 20, 2010 - the feast day of St. Aloysius – St. Al’s celebrated the grand opening of their new, permanent structure.
Brick and mortar replaced tin, gravel and greenery replaced mud. Dancing, speeches, awards, and music consecrated the brand new facility.
This film captures that festive day and the many faces and voices of the St. Al’s community. It serves as a thank you for past support and as an appeal for continued student sponsorship.
St. Peter Claver High School

Dodoma, the capital of Tanzania, is one of the five poorest regions of the nation. Limited infrastructure means only one in four primary school students in Tanzania enroll in secondary school. The Our Lady Queen of Peace Foundation and the Eastern Africa Province of the Society of Jesus set out to address this need by establishing the Our Lady Queen of Peace Educational Centre (OLQP). OLQP is the site of the Xavier Institute of Technology, Loyola Teachers College, and St. Peter Claver High School, which is the Jesuit boarding school for boys and girls.
